I've honestly never seen regular songs from this perspective. Usually I thought of hymns as a separate, almost untouchable genre from olden days, but it makes perfect sense. I've only ever heard the original, raw version of this song, but even then I see what Todd's describing. To me, what this song does for Todd, all of The Waiting's songs do for me.

"I lift my right hand, one; I lift my left hand, two..." Yes, Hands in the Air is a true classic. One of my favorite songs by any artist any time.

you guys have done a lot of shows and come a long way for sure... I am glad that you are still making music.. 'My Pride' still hits my heart and makes me stop and think about what I am doing and why? I work at McDonalds, sometimes I think that my face is as close to a Church or meeting Jesus they will ever get till the judgement... What do they see? Jesus, or my pride....

I agree, Todd, with everything you've written about Brad’s solo album. It is high quality music, lyrics, and production. Having not had a release from The Waiting for a few years, I was excited to learn of this project and excited to get a copy.

After at least twenty listens now, I can say it's deep, moving stuff, with some hauntingly honest lyrics: I remember when the glory of his presence overwhelmed me; Woe is me, I am undone; I get taken down too far; I feel like giving up; I'm feeling buyer's remorse; I will never know the reason this side of the pain; Are you really the Messiah?

Sometimes dark, sometimes brooding, sometimes doubtful, and sometimes light and hopeful and faithful -- it’s confessional style presents well the early 21st century reconciliation struggles of people of deep faith and open eyes.
